Bird Fouling

Bird fouling contains a variety of diseases and is extremely hazardous to our health. There are also numerous insects and parasites that breed within fouling and nesting material that then infest our homes and workplaces.

Some of the diseases associated with pigeons are:

  • Chlamydiosis
  • Psittacosis
  • Cryptococcus
  • Campylobacter
  • Salmonellosis
  • Extrinsic Allergic Alveolitis
  • Erysipelas
  • Escherichia Coli (E-Coli)

Health & Safety At Work Act 1974, Section  2

"Requires employers to ensure that employee's health is not prejudiced by their work. This includes

taking such steps as are reasonably praticable to ensure that people at work are not exposed to infectious diseases.

Any accumulation of droppings can act as a resevoir of infection, and steps should be taken to prevent numbers of these birds from roosting and nesting in any one location".

Clearup Extreme Cleaning are licenced waste carriers through the Environment Agency. Our staff are fully trained and equipped for the safe removal of bird excrement.

Before disturbing the hazardous fouling, our operatives carry out a biocidal detoxification, and an insecticidal treatment. The fouling is then removed from site using sealed bags and transported for disposal under our waste licence. Finally the area is completed with a second biocide and insecticidal treatment.

The safe removal and disposal of bird fouling needs to be carried out in  compliance with  legislation. Our  dedicated  teams are properly equipped  and trained in the removal of hazardous  pigeon fouling.
